ALFRED AUGUST FRANK WEILAND,
age 93 of Rochester, formerly of Waseca died on Tuesday, October 27, 2009
at the Golden Living Center in Rochester.

Born on July 8, 1916 in Finlayson,
Minnesota he was the son of Frank and Greta (Schultz) Weiland.  He
entered the U.S. Army on March 26, 1941.  During his time in the Army,
Alfred served with the Cavalry caring for the horses and later fought on
the frontlines.  Following his honorable discharge on October 27, 1945,
he lived on a farm near Emmetsburg, Iowa.  He married Mary May Wininger
in Jackson, MN and together with their family, moved to Waseca.  Alfred
spent most of his career working in carpentry.  He was also interested in
mechanical gadgets and worked nearly every day – evidence of his German
heritage.  Following Mary’s death, Alfred married his second wife,
Henrietta in September of 1968 and she preceded him in death in 1995.
Alfred had spent the most recent years living in Rochester.

Alfred enjoyed listening to country music
as well as an occasional poker game.  He was a member of the American
Legion and VFW and was a former member of the Oddfellows.

Alfred is survived by two daughters, Linda
Wilson of La Ceiba, Honduras and Kathy King of Mobile, AL; and four
grandchildren, Katya, Jason, Sarah, and Gina.  He was preceded in death
by his parents, both wives, two sisters-Ellen and Elsie, and four
brothers-Otto, Arthur, George, and Harry.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday,
November 17, 2009 at 2:00 PM at Kinder-Dennis Home for Funerals in
Waseca.  Burial will follow at Woodville Cemetery in Waseca.
