Edsel Janovsky, 92, of Le Center, died Wednesday, November 4 2009 at Central Health Care Center in Le Center. Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 7, 2009 from 10:00 – 11:30 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Le Center. Funeral Services will be on Saturday at 11:30 a.m. Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Le Center with Military Honors provided by the Le Center Veteran’s Honor Guard. Arrangements are with Le Center Funeral Home. Memorials are preferred to St. Paul Lutheran Church. Edsel was born in Le Center on October 4, 1917 to James and Margaret (Sautter) Janovsky. He graduated from Le Sueur High School and attended Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter. Edsel married Mary Doherty in Belle Plaine, MN on June 27, 1939. He worked as Clerk of District Court of Le Sueur County for 33 years. Edsel entered the US Army on March 3, 1945, serving in WW 2 until January 20, 1946. He was a volunteer firefighter in Le Center, a life member of the VFW & Legion Clubs, Boy Scout Scoutmaster and a member of the Masons. He enjoyed doing anything outdoors, especially fishing and bow hunting. He was a baseball player and fan and enjoyed spending the winters in Texas. Edsel is survived by his wife, Mary; three children, Lynda & Jer Spurgat of Waterloo, IA, Jerry & Judi Janovsky of Weslaco, TX, and Rodney Janovsky of Woodbury, TN; daughter-in-law, Mary Janovsky of Le Center; 5 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Robert in 2008; brothers, Harvey and Clayton Janovsky and sister, Opal Gritzmacher. | |
